About

Hi! I’m Susan. I grew up in the South, with a mother who was a home economics teacher. She cooked pretty much every meal I ever ate growing up. I still remember the first time we ordered a pizza – it was a big deal. I no longer live in that world. I have a full time job as an architect/interior designer, which is unpredictable and demanding. I have two young children (Sophie is 5 and Max is 2) running in two different directions at all hours of the day and night. And I have a wonderful husband, who is every bit as busy as I am. But I still believe in the importance of eating healthy, home-cooked family meals.

I started this blog because I have so many friends who don’t think they have the time to cook for their families. Or worse, they think they don’t know how to cook. I hope to change that. Great meals don’t have to be complicated – they’re most often a simple combination of a few ingredients and some very easy techniques. The only effort it requires is a little planning ahead. That’s where Our Family Eats enters the picture. I’ll do the planning and testing for you, all you need to do is read along.

If you ever have a question about technique, or ingredient, or substitutions please contact me either by email or in the comment section. I would love to help! Or just chat.  See you in the kitchen!
