My husband is from a small town near Buffalo, NY so he brought his love of wings into our family when we were married. I love Buffalo wing sauce with a passion, but the actual chicken wings, eh, I’m not a huge fan. I’ve managed to find ways to keep both of us happy by coming up with a few new ways to enjoy Buffalo wing flavors without the actual wings. My Buffalo Chicken Chili, Buffalo Chicken Bites, and even Buffalo Chicken Enchiladas are all big favorites in our house and on this blog.

When I saw these Buffalo Chicken Pretzels over on Mom On Timeout I went just a little bit nuts over them. I couldn’t help but think yes, this is exactly what my life has been missing! I couldn’t rest until I had those pretzels in my kitchen. These spicy pretzels are everything you’ve ever wanted in a snack; crunchy, flavorful, with just the right kick of heat. They’re the first thing I reach for when I’m in need of a little something to get me past the afternoon carb attack. The only problem I have with them is when my husband gets to them before I do.

I love making these Spicy Buffalo Pretzels for just about any party and get together. They always get compliments and are always the first bowl emptied anywhere they go. You can easily make them gluten free and dairy free if you or any of your friends have dietary restrictions. Just use your favorite gluten free brand of pretzels and use Earth Balance vegan butter instead of real butter.

Spicy Buffalo Pretzels

Serving Size: 8

An easy snack time recipe that’s perfect for a party or for a binge watching session with your favorite show.

  • 1/2 cup of Buffalo flavored hot sauce (I use Frank’s Red Hot)
  • 1/2 cup butter or dairy free substitute such as Earth Balance
  • 1 Tablespoon worcestershire sauce (I use Annie’s Homegrown)
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 pound bag of pretzels, regular or gluten free

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cover a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place hot sauce and butter in a small sauce pan over medium heat, stirring until butter is melted. Add the rest of the seasonings. Remove from heat.
Place pretzels in a large bowl. Pour hot sauce mixture over the pretzels. Use tongs to stir well so pretzels are evenly coated.
Spread pretzels out on the baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring well every 10 minutes to prevent burning. Let cool on pan. Serve immediately or place in an airtight container for up to three days.
