Who doesn’t love fresh berries in the summer time? I look for every way imaginable to use berries when they’re in season. These Blueberry Muffins are one of my very favorite ways to use the plump little jewels. But I love adding berries of all kinds to pancakes, scones, and of course smoothies.
Berries are at their peak of flavor and nutrition when they’re in season. You can find them at a great price during the summer months, making them completely irresistible, at least to me. I stock up on berries all summer long and store them for later. That way I can make my favorite berry recipes all winter long for a lot less money than I’d pay for frozen berries at the store. Nothing brightens up a dark winter’s day faster than the sweet taste of berries.
It’s easy to freeze any kind of berry – strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries will all be nestled in my freezer by the end of summer. So start stocking up!
