Healthy Chicken Pot Stickers Recipe
I’m in a constant quest to find ways to make my favorite restaurant meals at home. I can make them much less expensive than what we’d pay at a restaurant, and I have the added benefit of knowing each and every ingredient, and I can tailor the recipe to just the way I like it.
Pot stickers have been on my list to try making at home for a while but have gotten pushed down because of flashier recipes that caught my eye. This weekend a craving struck so pot stickers became the focus of my attention again. I read several recipes from different sources and picked my favorite ingredients and methods from those.
I was surprised by how quickly and easily these healthy chicken pot stickers came together. Even the kids were able to lend a hand with spooning in the filling and folding the won ton wrappers. I used a bag of broccoli slaw from the produce section to speed things up even more. And I love the fact that even though these are filled with those healthy veggies, my whole family gobbled them up. No more take-out pot stickers for us!
Healthy Chicken Pot Stickers Recipe
1 pound ground chicken
1.5 cups of pre-packaged broccoli slaw or finely sliced Napa cabbage
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tablespoon freshly grated ginger
1 Tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional)
salt and pepper
1 package won ton wrappers
sesame oil
soy sauce for dipping
Cook chicken in a large skillet over medium high heat until completely done. Drain off any fat. Return chicken to pan and add broccoli slaw to pan. Cook for 3 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened. Add garlic, ginger and soy sauce, cook for 1 more minute. Remove pan from heat and stir in crushed red pepper if using, salt and pepper to taste.
Lay out 9 won ton wrappers on a clean surface. Moisten the edges of the won ton wrappers with water using your fingers or a pastry brush. Spoon 1 tablespoon of the ground chicken mixture into the center of each won ton wrapper.
Fold won ton wrapper so that it forms a triangle. Gently fold edges to form pleats – this will help the pot stickers stay together as they cook. Repeat process until all filling is used.
Heat about 2 tablespoons sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add a few pot stickers at a time to the pan lying on their side. Cook about 1-2 minutes or until golden brown, then turn over and cook on the other side. Repeat with remaining pot stickers. Serve with soy sauce for dipping.

Where can you buy wonton wrappers or what section of the store?
They are usually found in the refrigerated area of the produce section at most grocery stores. Mine are always near the mushrooms.
Thanks!! I’ve never looked there!!
Oh yum! I love potstickers & can’t wait to try your much healthier version of them!
These were so fun to make! I mixed in a little cream cheese instead of soy sauce since my son is allergic and they turned out great! I think I’m going to be picking up the won ton wrappers more often. Never did it before! YUM! Thanks!
Thanks – so glad you enjoyed them! Since making these, wonton wrappers have become my new favorite ingredient to play with – you can do so many things with them. I bet the cream cheese was yummy – great idea!

I’ve been poking around for a good potsticker recipe for a while. My girlfriends and I are getting together tonight to make dinner and we might just try this one! Thanks so much for sharing
How fun! I hope you all enjoy them!
I was just wondering if wonton wrappers were gluten free. If not, have you tried using the rice wrappers?
The wonton wrappers I’ve seen are not gluten free, and I haven’t tried rice wrappers. It’s worth a shot though. If you try it let me know if they work out for you.
